FAQs
Fief was initially launched on top of the Avalanche Network. However, Fief plans to expand to become a multi-chain entity with rewards and products available on numerous EVM and non-EVM compatible chains.
Fief is the first economic guild of the metaverse with the primary objective to build decentralized protocols and game systems that plug into popular metaverse projects.
Factions represent an innovative approach to role and reward segmentation within the Fief Guild. There are 5 total Fief Factions: Farmer, Craftsman, Merchant, Alchemist, and Bishop. Each Faction is designed to fit different user profiles based on factors including levels of daily activity, protocol & asset interests, and capital positioning.
Fief: Blood and Coin is an economic strategy game that bridges on- and off-chain mechanics to deliver a highly rewarding user experience. Through a rich and adaptable storyline, Blood and Coin offers an industry-first approach to NFT gaming that incentivizes strategic thinking.
Fief is a semi-anonymous team consisting of NFT experts, game designers and artists, smart contract engineers, and more. Current team size is roughly 25, including FTE and consultants.Team leadership is active in our Discord. Drop by and say hi!
The Initial Guild Membership (IGM) NFT is the asset every issued by Fief Guild, offering perpetual Season Pass access, Fief Token (FIEF) payload, and a rarity-matched plot of land for future gameplay and fee-share.
IGMs come in five different rarities: Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary and Majestic.
Each rarity has its own price point and scale of rewards attached. For example, the Uncommon IGM receives far fewer FIEF distribution and Season Pass points/period rewards than the Majestic IGM.
All sold IGMs map to a specific plot within the guild city of Vitruvia. Each plot of land also contains a rarity-based number of Building slots and Unit Houses. Each rarity land has an associated yield multiplier for all buildings placed -- the more rare the land, the better the base multiplier.
Building types offer functionality ranging from access to Faction-based fee rewards to Blood and Coin game activities such as Resource Gathering, Item Crafting, and more.
Details on the full land sale will be available later this year.
IGM holders have a dedicated, IGM-only gated channel within the Fief discord!
This channel receives exclusive updates and news prior to the rest of the Fief and global communities.
Season Pass NFTs follow the same rarity-scale that was initially implemented with IGMs, with the addition of a Common rarity tier.
Each rarity of Season Pass has an assigned number of points that it accrues per period. The period in this case is arbitrary and will be determined each season based on a number of factors, including available rewards, third-party sponsorship, and more.
Each Season Pass NFT can only be used one time and users may use multiple Season Passes at a time to boost their point accrual and access the higher reward tiers.
Season Pass NFTs will be available on Avalanche and Ethereum to start.
Fief Buildings are NFT assets that can be placed on top of land plots.
Buildings come in a variety of types with utility that ranges from collecting Faction-based fee rewards to productive actions such as Resource Gathering.
Each Fief Building has a specific number of Unit Slots that must be populated by Fief Units of the same Faction. The more slots filled, the more productive the Building becomes.
Fief Items are NFT assets that can be equipped on Fief Units. These Items, which are not required, increase the productivity of the Fief Unit to complete actions such as Gathering Resources at a greater rate.
Fief Units are NFTs that are required to complete actions on IGM land plots by placing them inside of dedicated Building slots. To produce Fief Units, a user must hold an Epic or above IGM, which contains a Unit House slot that can be filled with a dedicated Unit Production Building. Producing Units costs Fief Food (FOOD), Fief Gold (GOLD) and Fief Token (FIEF).
There are 3 fungible core Fief Resources and 2 fungible Key Resources (5 Fungible Resources in total), which are essential for building on your land plot and participating in Fief: Blood and Coin.
Core Resources are primarily produced through Resource gathering via the Farmer Faction buildings. Anyone can gather Resources by placing the correct buildings on their land plot but only the Farmer Faction earns fee rewards.
Key Resources are produced not by the Farmers but by the Alchemist and Bishops. These Resources function to balance productivity across all Factions and introduce additional progressive game action requirements.
Most actions that use Fief Resources will burn the supply.
The Fief Token ("FIEF") is a utility and reward currency that ties into the productivity of Fief's decentralized protocols.
FIEF is the main game currency for Fief: Blood and Coin, in addition to all future Fief products.
The max supply of FIEF is 500,000,000.
Fees are designed to introduce protocol-driven demand for the Fief Token (FIEF) and incentivize Faction land holders to champion the protocols under their control.
All fee rewards are paid out in the Fief Token using a time-delayed staking system that accounts for global land weighting (Faction-specific). Each protocol has its own fee structure and the guild will actively work to balance access to rewards across Factions.
In order to tap into the decentralized fee flow, land holders must take a direct action to place fee-accrual Fief Buildings on their plot. This comes at a trade-off however, as it leaves less room for buildings that allow land holders to complete game actions.
All fee-accrual Fief Buildings are categorized under the Bishop Faction and require Bishop Fief Units to populate slots.
The only available Fief Protocol is the Fief Marketplace, an NFT marketplace available on the Avalanche c-chain.
Currently, only primary guild assets are available for purchase via the Fief Marketplace. Fief plans to release peer-to-peer trading following extensive review and audits to allow for more robust economic activity.
Fief Protocols are products designed to improve the utility and accessibility of NFTs and other adjacent assets, including in-game currencies and more.
These protocols accept both first-party guild and whitelisted third-party assets with protocol fees distributed directly back to the Fief IGM holder in a user-driven and decentralized manner.
Fief Protocols will always fall within a specific Fief Faction. The purpose of the protocol and the type of associated assets determined which Faction receives the fee rewards.
Fief: Blood and Coin is meant to be perpetual, meaning there is no specific way to "win."
Instead, the quests introduced to the Factions will have special rewards that incentivize participation and introduce exciting game theory elements associated with the trade-off between personal land rewards and Faction economic dominance associated with gameplay.
In short, no. You can actively participate in the guild as an IGM holder without managing or even owning land associated with Fief: Blood and Coin. However, the fee share component of the guild necessitates active land management.
Fief: Blood and Coin is the first guild game that is designed to introduce native sources of fee rewards for each Faction.
Through a healthy internal economy built around economic game mechanics, Fief is better able to fulfill its mission of becoming the financial center of the metaverse.
The game itself will be entirely browser-based and played by creating a highly productive land plot and completing quests that are presented through the Fief platform.
